We’re excited to announce that EDI standards development group X12 recently reelected Kleinschmidt’s VP of Sales, Doug Anderson, as the Chair of the X12 Transportation subcommittee. Chartered by the American National Standards Institute for over three decades, X12 exists to develop and maintain the ubiquitous X12 EDI (electronic data interchange) standards across industries such as transportation, health care, insurance, supply chain, and finance among others.
According to X12.org, the transportation component, X12I, is responsible for the development and maintenance of components of the X12 EDI Standards related to the transportation industry’s business activities, including air, marine, rail, and motor freight transportation and Customs, logistics and multi-modal activities. A true industry veteran, Doug’s decades of work in freight transportation and electronic commerce comprise experience at the American Trucking Association, developing new EDI standards with X12, and ushering in the advent of the respective U.S. and Canadian Customs ACE and ACI programs. Though new standards and methods such as XML, JSON and API-based protocols continue to proliferate, usage of the X12 standards in North American electronic commerce continues to overwhelm its contemporary alternatives.
